Living for Christ
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me; and the life that which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
We used to live a life that is very much centered on the soul which is very selfish and for the gratification of the flesh. However, the Christian walk from the moment we received Christ into our lives should be a life of faith, being faithful in our service to Him and to persevere to the end when we will meet the Lord face to face.
Ever since the fall of man, man started to feel rejected because Adam and Eve were chased out of the Garden of Eden. Therefore, man longs to feel loved and accepted by people and wants to justify God’s love for us through human’s effort. Nevertheless, despite all of man’s efforts, no one will be able to have 100% acceptance by people and therefore, rejection will always linger around us.
This feeling of rejection and emptiness will never be settled until we come into an understanding of God’s love for us. There is no amount of money, good works or religious duties or rites, nor philosophical ideologies that can really satisfy that emptiness.
When we talk about the fact that we have been crucified with Christ, we are saying that we are united by faith to Christ in His death, that we have died to the old life and we have risen to a new life. By the atonement of His blood, we have been justified and made righteous through faith in His Work. This righteous position is given to us by faith and not by works. Therefore, we can rest from using our own strength to gain acceptance. We are secured in Christ, and therefore, do not need to be frantically looking for human’s acceptance which will never be fully achieved. We will be stable, mature and firm in our beliefs in God and ready to make our life count for eternity.
In the Book of Matthew, Jesus told His disciples not to store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal. Have you stored up for yourselves for eternity where thieves cannot steal and moth and rust cannot destroy?
