Why Is It Important to Lead a Holy Life?
1 Peter 1:13-16 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in ALL your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
We need to be holy because it is God’s requirement and it will also save us from reaping the fruit of living a life that is after the flesh that is of the world. God wants us to live a blessed, victorious and abundant life.
2 Corinthians 3:16 says that we are the temple of the living God and His Spirit lives in us. Today, the people of the world can be impressed by the architecture of the church building but it means nothing to them as compared to the lives of people worshipping in the building. Many unbelievers are stumbled, disappointed and shocked at the lives and testimonies of some of the believers that walked out from the church building.
But can we truly live a holy life as the Lord has required of us? Yes, indeed! God would be unjust to demand something out of us that we are not capable of fulfilling.
Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
John 8:32, 36 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”… “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Matthew Henry says “By the body we are to understand fleshly appetites and inclinations. These the apostle set himself to curb and conquer, … The body must be made to serve the mind, not suffered to lord over it.”
The maturity of a Christian is not measured by how many years we have been a Christian, been in Church, been in leadership or even been in ministry. True maturity is seen through our lives in regards to how much we have known our Heavenly Father, living out and acting upon His word in true obedience. Every day, we are supposed to grow in Christ likeness and becoming more like the Father so that people can see Christ in us.
Do people see Christ in us?
