There Is Strength in Numbers

We know that we can pray directly to our Father when we need help during a time of crisis, to obtain mercy and forgiveness, to seek instructions or to obtain blessings for certain occasions. However, we should not forget that we can also request our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to unite, pray and access the power of God on our behalf. Corporate prayers are mighty and can be done in multiple means.

We can model after the early Church and pray in love, in one accord and of one mind and heart. It is not how many people we can gather to pray, but rather how united we are in our hearts and souls in regards to the matter at hand.

Acts 4:31-32 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

We can allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us as to what to pray and how to pray.

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [g]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

We can also praise and worship God and lift up our voice in unity. Praise and worship declare God’s victory in the situation and helps us direct our focus to God, rather than the situation. There is a realm of ease in God, we want the King of Glory to fight the battle for us. In the Old Testament, the praisers always go before the army in battle, and at times the battle no longer needed to be fought afterwards.

2 Chronicles 5:13-14 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.

As Christians, we know that God is with us when we gather in His name. As such, we should access His power and miracles together.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
