Great Joy to All People

Luke 2:10-11. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of GREAT JOY which will be to ALL people. “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:8-18 is a familiar setting of the Christmas story. It is a message of joy to all people. Normally, a baby would bring joy to some people especially those of the household but in this passage, we learn that Jesus would bring great joy to all people! This is because a savior has been born who will bring peace and goodwill towards all men.

Jesus is the Savior of Mankind because He dealt with the sin problem by paying the penalty of sin and everything that come into the earth as the result of sin.

Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Therefore, it is no longer sin that is separating the people from God because Jesus has dealt with the sin problem. The only thing that is separating man and God now is their decision to accept Christ into their lives.

Another reason that there is great joy for all mankind is because Christ has destroyed the oppression and torment of the devil.

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

There is all sorts of bondages and burdens such as sickness, infirmities, broken marriages, gambling, drugs, poverty, tribulations and deceitfulness of riches and cares of the world.

This is great joy to all the world! And we need to make this gospel widely known to all!

Luke 2:17. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.

The shepherds made Jesus widely known to all and we need to do the same too because Jesus is coming back soon. Do you have this urgency to share Jesus? If not, pray for God to give you the passion for the lost.
