Trust and Serve Your God

Joshua 24:14-15, 21-22 ’“Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” And the people said to Joshua, “No, but we will serve the Lord!” So Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord for yourselves, to serve Him.” And they said, “We are witnesses!”

The choice is ours. Joshua had been faithfully walking out the calling of God upon his life. God asked and tasked him to lead the people to possess the land. He had been strong and courageous to do the task assigned to him. It was Joshua’s calling and gifting as a leader raised up by God. Joshua made a decision that he and his household would serve the Lord even if the majority of the people chose to walk away from God and His ways. Joshua was appreciative of everything that the Lord had done for them.

We need to be appreciative of what God has done for us through the redemptive work of Christ. All that Christ has done for us results in us being hidden in Him and God has blessed with all the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places. It could never be achieved by our own strength! We are truly blessed by God’s grace.

Eph 4:1-3 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

All of us are uniquely made with different gifts and talents to contribute to the Kingdom of God. Have you been using the gift and talent that He has given you to serve and honor Him? Are we walking worthy of His calling by living our lives for Him in the market place? Have you been walking in accordance to God’s plan and leading your life in a godly way? We are to yoke ourselves to God. We will seek His will when we consecrate our lives to God and that is done through prayer. We cannot pray unless we consecrate our lives to God and we cannot consecrate ourselves without prayer, too. Be yoked with Christ and seek His will for your life. That’s a consecrated life.

Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

We will begin to trust God and walk in faith because God has spoken to us after we have consecrated our lives to Him. When we are walking by faith, then we will walk in God’s way without compromising with our values and principles. He will make even our enemies to be at peace with us. By God’s grace our enemies can even start favoring us  . Serve your God faithfully and He will bestow His blessings upon you and make you a blessing to the whole community.
