Get a Word from God
We should not be presumptuous to launch into something but take time to get a Word from God because the journey to reach the target is challenging.
Matthew 14:28-29 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”29 So He said, “COME.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
The moment Jesus said “COME” to Peter, the will of God is known that He has allowed Peter the break the law of nature so that Peter can walk on water. It would have been really foolish and presumptuous for Peter to walk on water if he did that without a word from Jesus.
Many people have good and even great ideas but what we want to know is that if the idea is a God Idea. God has a different plan for each of us and therefore, success for others might not mean the same success for us. When the Will of God is known for our lives then the anchor of faith is found!
Don’t attempt to walk on water by going into a business venture, stepping out to be an entrepreneur, change a job, move to another country or province, or make certain major decisions in our lives without seeking the face of God. Don’t “put the cart before the horse” by starting on a project then asking God to bless it!
Consider Peter addressing Jesus “Lord”. Many of us might still be at the stage where Jesus is the Saviour of our lives but we have not really submitted to His Lordship. This leads to uncertainty, disillusion and the consequences that come with wrong decisions. However, when Jesus is our Lord, we seek His will, we have peace, joy and an infusion of God’s grace in our hearts at the most difficult and trying moments.
Once Peter heard the word “Come” from Jesus, he had a choice to remain in the boat or take the step of faith to step out of his comfort zone by getting out of the boat. Many people are fearful of trusting God despite God having spoken to them clearly and if they continue to stay in the boat, they will not experience the grace of God.
If you have heard from God, step out in faith and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and not the distracting circumstances around us, and God will surely be reward you with success in what you have heard God ask you to do.
