God’s Word Has Integrity – God Stands Behind His Word
Num 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
The reason it is difficult for many to walk by faith in God is they are used to living in a world where there is no integrity whether it be in marriages, among family members or in business. People have lost confidence in promises and therefore, they are skeptical in just taking God’s Word for it.
But God says in Jeremiah 1:12 that “I am actively watching over My Word to fulfill it.”
Hebrews 4:2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
We need to mix the word that He has given us with faith or else it will not be profitable to us.
He is God. He has spoken to you personally on that particular request that you have spoken to Him. That settles it. Have faith in what He has spoken to you.
Heb 6:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
While we have read from the experience of the centurion and the Canaanite woman whose servant and daughter were healed in that hour, we need to bear in mind that not every promise is manifested immediately after we have received the Word from God. Everything takes time and we need patience to stand on the promises of God to wait for manifested answer or else we will give up easily.
And while we wait patiently for the answer, our faith should not be affected by what we see or hear around us. Peter did the right thing by obeying Jesus’ command to “Come” walk on water but started to sink when he saw and was affected by the waves around him. Similarly, Jesus told Jairus not to be affected by news that his daughter is already dead.
Jesus advice to Jairus should also establish our faith once we have received the word from Jesus, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” (Luke 8:50)
