Agree with God’s Word about Multiplication
ICS Daily Devotions
Gennesis 1:27-28 (NKJV) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
1 Corinthians 7:4-6 (NKJV) The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment.
Faith is taking God at His Word before we see the result. What are the Scriptures for married couples who are believing God for bearing children?
God has revealed His will for us to have children in the family through His Word. Therefore, we can stand on His Word and practise what the Bible instructs us to do.
God wants us to be fruitful and multiply. Therefore, we need not stop at one child. We can believe God to bless our wombs, grant us a smooth
pregnancy, and an easy delivery. In addition to having faith in God, He has instructed married couples not to deprive each other of sexual pleasure. In this way, we will not be stressed by the hormonal cycle but will take time to enjoy each other and trust God to help us conceive. We can pray and stand on His promises for having children. We can agree with the Word of God that He wants us to be fruitful and multiply, and believe God that He is also able to use medical science to help us conceive. Meanwhile, we can meditate on the Scriptures that God created the heaven and the earth and made man in His own image. Therefore, there is enough creative power for Him to help us conceive the baby.
What we should do:
· Stand on God’s promise to multiply.
· Pray over your body and believe for conception.
· Follow biblical wisdom—enjoy your marriage and don’t let stress steal your intimacy.
· Trust God to use natural means, medical help, or a supernatural miracle—He is not limited.
Colossians 1:16 (NKJV) For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
If God created the entire universe with His Word, creating one little heartbeat in a womb is not difficult for Him. Faith is seeing the supernatural after what God has spoken. It is refusing to succumb to natural circumstances, even though we do not deny their occurrence. We need to know that natural circumstances will change, but God’s promise will not. Faith is to keep the focus on the spoken Word, which carries tremendous power.
Reflection: If you are praying and waiting to have children, how are you encouraged by the truths about God’s will for families and His power?
