We Worship A Resurrected Lord

John 21:1, 12-14 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: … Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”— knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.

While it is easy to acknowledge Jesus as our Savior, it can be challenging to trust Him to provide for our needs, and often times, we don’t really know how much faith we have till we are being tested!

This passage recounts Jesus’ third appearance to the disciples after His resurrection, when the disciples were just beginning to walk out their faith without Jesus beside them. Jesus knew that they needed His assurance and His help before His ascension.

The disciples’ faith was seriously challenged not knowing how they could preach the gospel full time with no secular job and burgeoning persecution, and they’ve had to learn to adjust to a brand new lifestyle of faith and total dependency on God. Today, many of us can also find ourselves in a similar situation when we go through life changes.

The New Testament lifestyle is one of faith in the resurrected Lord — taking God’s Word for what it is without seeing! The Word of God is the evidence for our faith because we believe in a resurrected Lord who hears our prayers and knows our needs. The resurrection of Christ is beyond the comprehension of the mind because it is supernatural!

Living by faith and not by sight is no easy task, so it is vital for us to have a deep conviction that we worship and serve a resurrected Lord who is faithful to His promises, especially in the area of provision.

Luke 22:35 And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”

Jesus had no lack during His ministry when He was sent by the Father. Likewise, there was no lack when Jesus sent the disciples, and the same will be true for us!

Because our faith is built on the resurrected Lord, He is alive! He knows our needs and we can trust Him to provide!
