He Is A God Of Order
ICS Daily Devotions
1 Corinthians 11:3,12 (NKJV) But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God….For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.
Based on the above passage, God has ordained a divine order of God, Christ, husband, and wife. We also see this in the book of Genesis, where He created everything in six days and rested on the seventh. God is a God of order, and there is a line of submission concerning God, Christ, man, and woman.
The head of Christ is God. We worship a triune God. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are equal in power and attributes. Yet, the functional role of the Heavenly Father carries more authority and serves as a leadership role within the Trinity.
The Holy Spirit brought about creation after God the Father had spoken the Word. Jesus was the spoken Word at the time of creation; He was the Word made flesh and walked among men. Therefore, we see that the Trinity, though equal in status, has different functional roles, and each operates well in its own right. There is no schism in the Triune God because they are one, and they are clear about their roles. If the different roles within the Trinity had refused to do what was intended, the world would not have been created! The Triune God intended to make the world with land and sea, fish, birds, animals, Adam, Eve, and everything in the heavens. It was perfectly executed and in order because the world was created through the creative power of the Holy Spirit once God had spoken it into being.
Acts 10:38 (NKJV) how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Jesus went about doing what was intended—setting the oppressed free and healing the sick. Jesus said that He does whatever He sees the Father doing (John 5:19) and only speaks on matters when God the Father tells Him to speak (John 8:26). He told Philip and the disciples that they had seen the Father when they saw Him because He and the Father are one (John 14:9-11).
It would be chaotic if God the Father had spoken, but Jesus refused to submit to His will, and the Holy Spirit also refused to empower Jesus! However, each of them played their roles, and everything was done in order.
Therefore, just as the Trinity operates harmoniously with distinct roles, if a couple sees themselves as one flesh but recognises and accepts that each has different functional roles and positions within the family, they will achieve complete unity, and the marriage will prosper.
