Fellowship With God

Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

These two verses talk about a man by the name of Enoch who walked with God and his life pleased God. All of us would like to live a life that pleases God. In Hebrews, it was revealed to us that Enoch lived by faith in God and he had a testimony that pleased God.

Enoch had a very close relationship with God. He probably shared with God about everything in his life and he had faith God was able to pull him through every obstacle.

How are we to relate to God? How do we talk to Him?

God desires our fellowship and we must always seek Him for an opinion whenever we are faced with something in our lives.

John 15:13-15 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.14 “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.15 “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. In this present time, the work of the Holy Spirit is to make known to us whatever He hears from the Father.

God is interested in our lives. He desires to talk to us and He treats us as a friend whom we can confide in. He is the most interesting and loving person that we will ever know. All of us have friends; however, it’s our close friends who will take time to call us to chat or invite us out for coffee. We can share with our close friends our heartaches, joy, struggles, fears, and pain. More often these friends will share with us their joy and even cry together with us in our most painful moments; a friend whom we can pick up the phone and talk to anytime of the day; a friend whom we can count on to help whenever we need a listening ear or support in the most trying moments.

Sometimes a close friend might even feel miserable because of his helplessness to help us due to his/her human limitation. God wants to be that kind of friend to us and His love is greater than any kind of human love and He fully understands us.

We have the privilege to consult with Him one-on-one, talk to Him and pour out our hearts to Him as we’re talking to a close friend. A friend will respond to us by giving us advice, guidance, counseling. Moreover, even admonishing us by telling us straight in the face if we are doing something wrong. Of course, He will also help us. If we want to have this relationship with God, He requires that we have FAITH IN HIM that He is there for us no matter what.

A lifestyle of faith is very important as we walk out this life of faith. We are to be conscious of God in us, God for us and God with us. Before what can be manifested in the natural must first be seen or happen in the spiritual realm. It is through faith that we believe that it will come to pass.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Kings 6:14-17 Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Don’t look at the natural circumstances and allow it to steal the peace from your heart. In verse 17, when Elisha prayed for the Lord to open his eyes, the Lord did indeed open his eyes and behold he saw a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding him to protect him.
