Jesus is Your Healer – Your Miracle will Come!

Luke 8:40-52 So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him.41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house,42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him.

Have you ever had your dream dashed? You truly believed the plan you had was something that you’ve consecrated unto the Lord. Or you’ve tried believing God for something and somehow gave up halfway through but you felt that you should’ve had held on?

Many of us have prayed earnest prayers unto the Lord. All of us are aware that there is a long period between the Amen and the manifested answer to our prayers. Many things can happen while waiting for an answer to our prayers. As we live in a very fast pace society, we might have even given up the moment we hear of any sort of bad news or when confronted with a difficult or an impossible situation. We have been trained to react in this manner since we were young. If you’ve had such an experience, don’t worry you are not alone!

In verse 41, many people were waiting for Jesus and welcomed Him when he arrived. However, nobody really approached Him boldly or reverentially with their need until Jairus came to Jesus. We need to actively seek God out when we encounter a challenge in our lives or believe God for something or attempt to fulfill the calling and destiny that he has for our lives. Jairus’s faith was active and he acted on his conviction that Jesus is the CHRIST, the son of the living God whom he believed. He had faith that Jesus was able to help him, although it was an impossible situation in his natural mind.

The problem as we read in verse 42 was that he “had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him.” Jairus was a ruler of the synagogue, a man with some status in the Jewish community and had a challenging problem that was beyond him. Jairus would have to deal with the Rabbis when he approached Jesus. And he would be bombarded with many opinions, remarks, and sarcasm even to the extent of being ostracized. However, he couldn’t care less about what people thought of him because his beloved daughter was dying. It was his only child, a twelve-year-old daughter who was on the brink of death. It was an impossible situation and required quick intervention.

Nevertheless, Jairus came in faith and his faith was to have Jesus come to the house and pray for his daughter. And that everything would be all right. We notice in the Bible that different people have varying levels of faith: the woman with the issue of blood went to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, the disciples who had little faith because they didn’t bring enough bread, and the centurion who told Jesus to say the Word and it was done – he had great faith!

God doesn’t want us to stagnate in our faith in Him but to continue in having our faith brought to the next level as we walk with Him. And we are to fulfill the calling that He has for each of us. Jairus put his faith in Christ when he envisioned his daughter’s health fully restored. Jesus went with Jairus willingly. Therefore Jairus knew that Jesus was going to do something based on his request. It was a confirmation from God. This man came looking for Jesus in faith.

We need to trust in the integrity of God’s word especially the rhema word that He has spoken to us in regards to our destiny, calling and redemptive rights that belong to us in Christ. The rhema word which is the spoken Word of assurance from God anchors our faith in Him. We are not to let any negative reports discourage us, but we are to stand firm in our faith believing God for the impossible – your miracle will come!

There was a distance between where Jairus met the Lord and his house. Many things can happen along the journey and we know the story. It will be the same for us because there will be a period of time before we will actually witness the manifestation of the answer to our prayer.
