No Weapon Formed Against You Shall Prosper
Luke 23:2 (NKJV) And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
When Jesus was caught and brought before Pontius Pilate, He was falsely accused for misleading the nations and for forbidding paying taxes to Caesar even though Pilate could not find any fault with Him. Obviously, it wasn’t true that Jesus asked them not to pay taxes to Caesar as we see in the following scripture.
Matthew 22:19-21(NKJV) So they brought Him a denarius. 20 And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” 21 They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Many times, we might be falsely accused in this world. For example, in the process of doing what is right and cleaning up certain wrong practices in the company we might be falsely accused by employees or peers in the company. As long as we’re aware that as a child of God – there may be times when we need to make unpopular decisions that are morally correct and good for the company or for those around us – we need to brace ourselves for all kinds of evil intended towards us.
Jesus is able to empathize with us when people twist our words to their advantage and falsely accuse us. Come to the throne of grace and may the Lord infuse His grace and strength to us. Allow Him to vindicate and restore us. He is our strength and our fortress and our ever-present help in times of need and His Word promises us that no weapon formed against His children will prosper.
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
Matthew 5:11 (NKJV) “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.”
Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
At times, not retaliating is also a form of weapon because there will be nothing for the enemies to make use of, nothing to confirm that they are right and also to soften the whole situation. Therefore, Jesus asked us to love, bless, do good and pray for our enemies. When we are able to do that then we will be free from being entangled in the situation emotionally. It helps us to think clearly and make good decisions in the midst of chaos. God is capable of turning around every situation!
