Jesus Shows Us The Way Home
Ephesians 1:13(NKJV) In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
We are sealed with the Holy Spirit the moment we believed! God promised us everlasting life when He sent Jesus to express His love for us and opened up a passage way for us to return to spend eternity with Him. We can rejoice over the fact that we have a permanent or eternal home.
John 14:2 (NKJV) In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Jesus is preparing a place for us in heaven. Heaven is a place where believers of Jesus Christ will spend eternity. Some people may ask how we will live in a permanent home or an eternal home when we will not have a body. We need to understand that we are a tripartite being. The current body we have is temporal. We have a soul which comprises of our intellect and emotion. And primarily, we are a spirit being. It is this spirit being that will live for eternity in a new glorified body. It is those whose names are written in the Book of Life who will get into Heaven. The name is written in the Book of Life the moment someone acknowledges and received Christ into their lives.
John 14:5-6 (NKJV) Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus knows the way. Jesus has shown us the way to our home. God sent forth a bridge for us to be connected back to Him. It is through the blood of Jesus. Jesus is the way and the life.
John 5:24 (NKJV) “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Jesus was the “first-fruits” of the resurrection, therefore, we will also be caught up in the air with Him when He returns. Jesus had gone into Hades for us and conquered it so that it has no more victory over us if we believe in Him. Therefore, as a believer in Jesus Christ, death is not a defeat but a victory and celebration of life in eternity with our Maker.
A blind man or someone who is equally lost cannot help us find the way home. But Jesus confidently and boldly declared to us that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody is able to return to the Father except through Him. He has gone home ahead of us to prepare a place for us. Therefore, we have a place in heaven regardless whether Jesus returns while we are still alive or we passed on prior to His return. We praise God for Christ’s death and resurrection, acknowledging that we can never make it back home based on our own strength. Jesus has paved the way for us to return to the bosom
of the Father through His shed blood that redeemed us. We have the Holy Spirit as a seal of our salvation, and therefore, we will continue to live though we die physically. We will put on immortality and the incorruptible to enter into heaven. Glory be to God that the sting of death has no more power over us!
