Jesus Knows How You Feel

Hebrews 4:14-16 (NKJV) Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

It is true that as Christians, we can be alone at a certain place but we will never be lonely because we have the privilege to fellowship with God. While we have very good friends, peers or our spouse to fellowship with but often times we are left to face many things alone. There might also be things in our hearts that we have been holding onto or issues that is not convenient to share with anyone. We might think that people will not understand.

Isn’t it comforting that we have a great High Priest who is able to understand and empathize with us?

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Heb 2:17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

God does not restrict what we can say or cannot say in His presence. In fact, He enjoys the fellowship with us. He will not mind if we want to complain to Him regarding the struggles that we go through in life. We can share with Him regarding how difficult it is to deal with people or situations.

Jesus went through a great deal while walking in the midst of sinners and being tormented in the whole process. There would have been emotional turmoil and He would have had to make huge adjustments. We need to bear in mind that He is one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man. He was without sin but made to live among sinners. He can identify with every challenge we face in our daily lives.

There are many temptations for us to sin against God when we are under stress especially when we are emotionally stirred up by our circumstances. Speaking to the Lord in the closet or taking time to come to His throne will help because He will instruct and remind us to do and practice what is right. We may be weak but He is strong and His power will flow into us, though the Holy Spirit. He will encourage us through His Word and He is at the right hand of God interceding for us.

We are not alone in this journey. We should be greatly encouraged that we have a Great High Priest who empathizes with us. He is our advocate, our mediator and intercessor.
