Believe In Your New Identity
Col 1:10-11,13 That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
Eph 1:19 (NKJV) And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
We have been delivered from the power of darkness. We should always work towards spiritual maturity from spiritual infancy. Nobody should stay as a spiritual infant for too long. The purpose with our life is to grow. We will be short changing ourselves if we continue to walk in spiritual immaturity or worst still in carnality!
When we walk worthy of the Lord and being fruitful in every good work, including living a righteous and holy life, then we are able to be truly the salt and light of the world. The good news is that there is a strengthening of might through the power of God. We are able to do it! It is faith and sanctification that pleases God.
Heb 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
One mustn’t just use their faith to believe God for material possessions, promotion, and a good job. We need to have faith in the Word regarding what we have in Christ that has enabled us to live differently from our lives before accepting Christ. As believers, we should not still be struggling with habitual sins, troubled marriage relationships, or having strife, division and unhealthy vibes in the church. When we believe in God, there is an exceeding greatness of His power working on the inside of us in the spirit man! We just need to believe it.
There should be a distinct cross over and a change of lifestyle before and after accepting Christ. That comes about when we discover the truth of who we are, what we have and what we can do in and through Christ! We have faith in our new identity. This faith in His Word pleases God and we act upon what we believe!
2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV) As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
God has through His divine power made us a new creation in the spirit being. It is the positional truth that has enabled us to be given all things that pertain to life and godliness. It is in the new creation in the spirit being that we have the nature of God. The divine nature resides on the inside of us, which is the spirit man. It pleases God when we live out the life that has escaped the corruption in the world through lust. We can escape it if we have faith in the Word saying that we have a new identity and we are a new creation!
