Faith Overcomes Obstacles
Joshua 14:7-8,12-14 (NKJV) I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the LORD my God……… Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said.” And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
Frame your life with the Word of God spoken out of your mouth. Speak out from your spirit man and you will reap in the natural. God’s Word causes mountain to move. If you allow yourself to be succumb to the elements in an environment, it will dominate you. If you succumb to the Word of God, however, you will have a spirit of a conqueror. Just like Caleb who was convinced of God’s faithfulness. He was able to place his faith in God at the age of 85 years old to believe that God would deliver Hebron to him.
Caleb recalled the day when Moses called and selected him as one of the twelve spies. He was forty years old when he was called, but he had the same spirit of faith at eighty five years old ready to conquer Hebron because God had promised! Caleb conquered Hebron and it was his inheritance because he fully followed the Lord of Israel. This man was fully convinced that God had spoken and sealed it with the covenant of promise with Abraham. He believed that God’s word, promise of God’s covenant, and the character of God were good enough for him despite of the Anakims who were supposed to be the giants in the land!
Caleb’s conviction and faith in God were based on what God had said that He had given them the land. He was convinced that God was greater than the obstacles, the facts, the unbelief of his peers and the persecution of his fellow men. He chose to have faith and believed. He received the land of Hebron at the age of 85! Many of his peers didn’t even live long enough to witness the inheritance. The great difference between Caleb and the rest was his faith in God. Caleb was able to believe that God would deliver them to have victory over the inhabitants of the land. He was not moved by what he saw and heard. He had faith in God and the covenant.
King David had the same traits as Caleb and we can have the same kind of faith as them. Jesus said that if we do not doubt in our hearts but believe what we have said to the mountain, we will have what we said. We will have what we said and believed. It is through faith in God that we will be conquerors in every aspect of our lives. You need to have the spirit of faith to live out the spiritual promises. You need to believe that whatever you do according to God’s will is blessed by the Lord. Then you will be able to overcome everything even though there might be challenges and obstacles that comes your way.
