Spirit Of The Conquerors
Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are WELL ABLE to overcome it.”
The question in life is not “How big is the problem?” Or, “How big am I?” But, “How big is my God and has He spoken a word of promise?” The spies in the Promised Land chose to believe what they saw rather than concentrated on God’s promise, God’s faithfulness to His covenant, God’s provision and God’s power. However, Caleb differed from the other people because he had a different spirit, he had the spirit of faith and resolute covenantal faith in God. God was pleased with him. He knew that with God on His side then they would be well able to overcome the giants in the land! In His mind and heart, His God was bigger, greater and mightier than all the enemies and fortified cities placed together. Nothing was impossible for God.
Numbers 14:24 (NKJV) But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has FOLLOWED ME FULLY, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
Indeed, God spoke in this verse that Caleb was very different from the rest. While the others saw the problem, Caleb saw the problem-solving God. He has followed God fully in His promise, thus it pleased God. Faith in God pleases Him.
Acts 11: 22-24 (NKJV) Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
If we want to please God, then we must live a life of faith. Pleasing God should be our primary ambition in life. Anything we do for God, unless we do it in and by faith or unless faith is involved, it cannot be pleasing to God.
We can be bold in Christ, full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Our faith is not blind faith, it is the kind of faith that is established in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Faith comes from hearing the word, especially the Rhema Word that God has spoken to us personally. The word of God helps us to anchor our soul with all the emotions, feelings which may include fear, anxiety and doubt because faith is from the heart. When we deal with the soul by helping it to be established in the word then the thief will not be able to steal and sift our faith in God.
Once our heart is full of the word and is convinced by the truth, especially what belongs to us through the redemptive work of Christ then we are immovable by the bad reports, facts and figures. Nothing will be able to stand in the way. We will have a spirit like conquerors for God!
